Extra Curricular Activities
A range of extra-curricular activities are available at Coogee Public School. Some of these are arranged by the P&C, while some are arranged directly by the school. Chess Classes with the Sydney Academy of Chess
The Sydney Academy of Chess runs a chess club at Coogee Public School on Wednesdays at lunchtime.
From time to time they offer a free trial class for new students. They also offer holiday clinics and weekend tournaments at local venues.
Children are kept engaged and regularly rewarded for their progress through the Chess Star awards program.

Coogee Public School Band with Directions in Music
Learn an Instrument with our music program provider Directions in Music!
Weekly Instrumental lessons, together with ensemble rehearsals, offer students the opportunity to learn a musical instrument in a supportive and collaborative setting.
The Junior Band program is specifically designed for students in years 3–6. No experience required!
Instruments available include: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Sax, Trumpet, Trombone and Percussion.
Classes are held on the school grounds and children can attend Coogee Care Centre before/after their lesson if needed.

Drama Classes with Startime
Ignite imagination, confidence, and creativity through performance. Students develop communication and storytelling skills through drama games, improvisation, and play-building.
Each term focuses on collaboration, creativity, and expressive performance.
Drama classes with Startime are held every Tuesday afternoon in a local hall, providing students with opportunities to build confidence, creativity and performance skills in a supportive environment.
Children are collected from school at the end of the school day and walked to the nearby hall. If your child is booked into after-school care, they will be walked back and signed into Coogee Care Centre at the end of the lesson.

Languages Other Than English (LOTE)
LOTE is a P&C initiative of Coogee Public School.
Language classes are run before or after school on the school grounds.
Languages offered are typically French, Greek and Spanish, but depending on the number of interested students, other languages such as Italian, German, Portuguese may become available.
Classes are open to students in years 1 - 6.

Art
Weekly art classes are taught by Heather, a local artist. The program offers students the chance to explore creativity and develop artistic techniques through guided workshops and projects.
Classes usually run every Tuesday and Wednesday. Children are picked up after school by Heather herself and taken to the nearby Amber Art Studio.
